Waiting on Wednesday: Not Even Bones by Rebecca Schaeffer

Release Date: September 4, 2018

Publisher: Houghton Mifflin Harcourt

Dexter meets This Savage Song in this dark fantasy about a girl who sells magical body parts on the black market — until she’s betrayed.

Nita doesn’t murder supernatural beings and sell their body parts on the internet—her mother does that. Nita just dissects the bodies after they’ve been “acquired.” But when her mom brings home a live specimen, Nita decides she wants out — dissecting living people is a step too far.

But when she tries to save her mother’s victim, she ends up sold on the black market in his place — because Nita herself is a supernatural being. Now Nita is on the other side of the bars, and there is no line she won’t cross to escape and make sure no one can ever capture her again.

Nita did a good deed, and it cost her everything. Now she’s going to do a lot of bad deeds to get it all back.

Why I am Excited About It:

So I saw this on #booksfortrade and I was curious about what it was and I was hooked from the first line! Magical bodyparts! Sold on the Black Market! In a book that is like This Savage Song! (Which I am currently reading and it is fabulous!) I am also in love with the whole mother-daughter business! I am really curious to find out what kind of mother Nina’s mom is because I feel like she is either going to be super warm and only doing this to help her family or she is going to be so morally gone that even is going Maeve to be shocked. I also feel like I am going to be singing No Good Deeds a lot when reading this book. (No Good Deeds is like the best song from Wicked; don’t @ me)

  1. I just saw this one on NetGalley this week and requested it. It sounds really intriguing and I love all the mystery about the magic she supposedly has. And I LOVE Wicked too! I’ll be seeing it for the fourth time this next spring. 🙂
