Do you know what I hate more than not finishing a book? It is not finishing a series! Especially if it is one where I get all the way to the last book and can’t do it. Then I question if I even enjoyed the books and it is just a mental mess.
The Maximum Ride Series by James Patterson
So I did technically finish this series when Nevermore came out, which was at the time promoted as the final book in the series but then Maximum Ride Forever came out and I was not going to push myself through that.
The Vault of Dreamers by Caragh M. O’Brien
I had enjoyed the first two as audiobooks and since I made the mistake of listing to The 5th Wave and The Infinite Sea as audiobooks and then reading The Last Star, I was not doing that again. So I had to wait for Hoopla (my library’s e-library) to get the last book, which caused me to forget the first two books and I don’t care about the series enough to re-listen.
The Inheritance Cycle by Christopher Paolini
I will give myself credit for reading the first two books but halfway through the third I threw in the towel. But I have been told that they are so much better as audiobooks so I am going to try them out and see if I can finish it.
Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children by Ranson Riggs
This is one series that I was surprised that I didn’t love. It was weird and creepy and heartfelt but I had to force myself to finish the book so I currently don’t have plans to finish the series.
Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard by Rick Riordan
I LOVE PJO, like superfan love, and Magnus was funny like Percy but it wasn’t the same and I didn’t love it enough to push myself through the rest of the books.
Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard
I didn’t like the first book and from what I have heard this is a series that you either love or hate so I won’t try any of the other ones but I am totally open to reading anything else Aveyard writes.
The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel Series by Michael Scott
Like Maximum Ride, I got all the way to the last book and couldn’t bring myself to start it. I had just lost all interest in the series.
The Graceling Series by Kristin Cashore
I loved Graceling but since the other two books aren’t about Katsa and I have already tried once to read Fire (also I have had these books for 5 years and still have yet to read them.), I don’t think that I will be finishing this series.
Falling Kingdoms Series by Morgan Rhodes
Like The Vault of Dreamers, this was an audiobook that I had listened to but Hoopla only had the first two books which were okay but my friend really enjoyed them so I was going to keep chugging along. I tried reading the third book after A Gathering of Shadows (that book lead me into one major reading slump) and at that point, I just quit.
The Magicians Series by Lev Grossman
I wanted to love this series. I love Narnia and people were saying “This is Hogwarts as a college and then they go to Narnia!!!” which sounds amazeballs!! But it was not and left me feeling very grouchy at the end.
