Book Slump: that feeling that you get when nothing read works, it all seems meh and usually ends once that golden egg of a book is found; can last anywhere from a few days to many months.
We all know this feeling and as book addicts we hate it. But here are some of the books that pulled me out of a reading slump.
The Bird and The Blade by Megan Bannen
I read this right after Crooked Kingdom, which I had such the book hangover from, and it was so good and it kept me from falling into that pit of despair.
Children of Blood and Bone by Tomi Adeyemi
It is hard not to get sucked into this gorgeous fantasy novel, book slump or not.
Longbow Girl by Linda Davies
I read this right after finishing A Gathering of Shadows and if you have read AGoS you know what happens at the end and I had to wait for ACoL to come out eight months later so there was no quick run to the bookstore to get the next one. So after trying to read many books, I finally settled on this one. And I still suggest it to anyone who is looking for a great book to read.
Furyborn by Claire Legrand
I read this after reading Sky in the Deep and The Song of Achilles which I was disappointed in both and reading this I was sucked in and it made Finals Week so much better.
An Enchantment of Ravens by Margaret Rogerson
When I started this book, I was not inherently in a book slump it was more of a life slump due to calculus, and bio, and my writing class, so to journey to the land of the Fae was a much-needed escape from reality.
A Darker Shade of Magic by V.E. Schwab
Yes, I did say that this series put me into a reading slump before but it is also great for getting out of one.
Summer of Salt by Katrina Leno
Like An Enchantment of Ravens, I wasn’t inherently in a book slump but I also hadn’t read any really good books at the time, so to fall into this book was blissful.
The Language of Thorns by Leigh Bardugo
This is more about short stories in general as they are great reading palate cleansers but TLOT is an awesome collection and you don’t need to know anything about the GrishaVerse to read it.
The Lady’s Guide to Petticoats and Piracy by Mackenzi Lee
I wouldn’t say that I was in a book slump when I read this but I definitely wasn’t enjoying what I was reading (which I DNF’ed one book and the other book I really want to DNF but it is an ARC so I am determined to finish it so I can write a proper review) and I DEVOURED this book. It was like hanging out with your best friends after spending all day with people you hate.
And when all other books fail, go to the classics for they can never steer you wrong.
Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly bookish meme by The Broke and The Bookish and is hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl.
I have to admit I haven’t read on of the books on your list, but I been meaning too. I been trying to get myself out of a slump at the moment so I’ll have to give one of them a try! Great post!

I’ve seen some really good reviews for Furyborn so I may have to get that one. And yay for classics like Narnia! I agree… speaking of, maybe I should revisit those at some point lol.

Haven’t read any of the books on your list yet. I have a copy of ADSOM. I wanted to read it for the longest time but I can’t catch the mood for reading a book series.
And of course, the classics will never fail us. I can’t believe how many times I’ve read HP Book1 and still enjoyed it every single damn time. 🙂

I love your quote about The Lady’s Guide to Petticoats and Piracy being “hanging out with your best friends after spending all day with people you hate”. If that’s not a ringing recommendation, I don’t know what is!

The only one I’ve read on this list (other than the classics, obviously) is CoBaB, but pretty much all the others are on my TBR list. xD That makes me all the more excited to read them, hearing how much you enjoyed them!
