Top Ten Tuesday: Books for My Beat the Backlist Challenge

The year is coming to a close and I still have yet to finish my Beat the Backlist challenge! I wanted to read 30 backlist books this year and so far I have read 55 books (I just moved my goal to 70 books from 60!!!!) of which 20 are backlist. So here the ten backlist books that I hope to read before the end of the year to complete my Beat the Backlist challenge.

Vicious by V.E. Schwab

I have been saying I am going to finish this book sometime soon but it still has yet to happen!

Strange the Dreamer by Laini Taylor

I met Laini during her Muse of Nightmares tour and it definitely made me want to FINALLY read this book.

Out of the Easy by Ruta Sepetys

Sepetys is one of my all-time favorite authors and I still have yet to read this. Though I did bring it to college so hopefully I can make time to read it.

All of Ryan Graudin’s Recent Works

I loved The Walled City but I am dreadfully behind on all of her books that came after it.

Girls Made of Snow and Glass by Melissa Bashardoust

I love retellings of fairy tales and this just sounds like a fabulous book.

Everything All At Once by Katrina Leno

I loved Summer of Salt so I am super excited to read more of Leno’s works.

The Iliad by Homer

Talk about a backlist book. Recently in my mythology class, we have been talking about The Odyssey and I have been reading a lot of myths and retellings so I figured I might as well knock this one off the bucket list as well I kind of want to do a comparison post between it and all of the retellings it has spawned.

She Walks in Shadows by Silvia Moreno-Garcia

I got this over the summer and I have been dying to read it!

Archivist Wasp by Nicole Kornher-Stace

Another book I have been dying to read since I got it and I figure it is high time considering that the author is coming out with a sequel.

  1. Ooh I really enjoyed Invictus when I read it recently! It’s the only one of Ryan Graudin’s books that I’ve read, though. Would you recommend The Walled City? Vicious and Strange the Dreamer are also on my (extended) list of books to catch up on!

Here’s my TTT if you want to check it out!

  2. Invictous almost made my list. Strange did. I loved the Iliad when I read it as a teen – I used to have a mass market bind-up of The Iliad and the Odyssey but I’ve lost it in multiple moves 😦 I want to read Vicious ASAP or any Schwab really. AND Girl Made of Snow and Glass was a pretty solid book. I think I rated it four stars 🙂

  3. Vicious made my list too! I haven’t met Laini Taylor, and she’s one of my favorite authors so I’m super jealous. Strange the Dreamer is SO good. I am reading Muse of Nightmares right now, I got a signed ARC for my birthday!
